Keeping your Books

How do you close the books (period end) in Quickbooks

Quickbooks does not have a period end in the same sense as a traditional accounting package like Sage. Instead it simply locks the data up to a given point. To do this. Go to Company > Set Closing Date

Closing Date and Password

Then simply type in the password that you wish to close the period up to, ( Lock data), you can at this stage if you wish enter a password

Thats it done. If you wish to enter data prior to the closing date, Quickbooks will remind you that the data is closed you can then override at this point if you still wish to, or if a password has been attached to the closing date you will need the password to proceed.
